Here are some more of the new fish I picked up last week. This first photo is the Apistogramma Macmasteri. I think have a pretty sharp look with the red across the head, top fin and tail fin and the barring across the face. I'm new to Apistos though, so I'm a little nervous about making sure I keep the water quality just right.
I'm keeping these two in a 38 gallon with swordtails, albino bushy nose plecos and some green cory cats. I have some smaller tanks (30s and the 38) that I'm trying to grow lives plants in, so dwarf cichlids seem like the natural choice. They won't get that big (3 inches max), are rather peaceful and love having plants to hide in and swim around.
I also picked up a pair of Apistogramma Hongsloi. They're a bit shy yet. They're in my 20 gallon with a couple of tetras and a snail for maintenance. This is the tank where I have my homemade CO2 system going and a few plants growing out. I'm hoping these guys grow and color up soon because they look amazing in the photos I've seen.
And the Macmasteri.
